Bring Your Own Containers to Weigh 'n Pay – A Simple Guide!
At Weigh 'n Pay, we love making waste-free shopping easy, and one of the best ways to reduce packaging waste is to bring your own containers! If you’ve never done it before, don’t worry—it’s simple, and we’re here to help.
Step 1: Bring Clean, Dry & Suitable Containers
Before heading to the store, make sure your containers are:
Clean and dry to keep our products fresh and safe.
Fit for purpose—jars, tubs, bottles, and sturdy bags all work great!
Step 2: Record Your Container’s Tare Weight
At our Refill Station, you’ll find scales, pens, and stickers to record the weight of your empty container (known as the ‘tare weight’). Simply:
Place your empty container on the scale.
Write down the weight on a sticker.
Attach the sticker to your container.
If you’re unsure or need assistance, just ask—we’re happy to help!
Step 3: Fill Up with Your Favourite Products
Now the fun part! Browse our range of bulk goods and fill your containers with as much or as little as you like.
Step 4: Pay & Enjoy
When you’re ready to check out, we’ll subtract the tare weight at the till, so you only pay for the product inside—no extra packaging waste!

Short on time? We can also refill your containers for you while you grab a coffee or enjoy Rhyme Time at the nearby library—just drop them off, and we’ll take care of the rest!
P.S. - Remember that you are always welcome to help yourself to the FREE jars located at our Refill Station. These have been donated to us, washed through our dishwasher and pre-weighed for you. Please note that these containers are specifically for use in-store! If you need jars for other purposes (craft, preserving etc), please help yourself from our Jar Exchange tub located by the front door. Be aware though, these jars have not been washed or checked by us so you must ensure you wash and sterilise them thoroughly before use.
